TARQUINIA
2011-

An architectural extravaganza from the early 1970s, this villa in a complex by the sea in northern Lazio has a garden which was entirely paved over many years ago for ease of maintenance by the largely absentee owner. Now that she plans to use it more frequently, the whole garden will be landscaped, and a pool added.

  Spring 2015

It was decided to approach the garden in stages. In spring 2015, the paving which covered the whole surface to the east of the house was removed. A smaller semi-circular area outside the kitchen door was created and paved with gres. The remaining area was left free for a green space.
  Summer 2015

This section was subsequently planted with hardy varieties selected to stand up to salty winds, and a pergola was constructed on the paved area.
